Our "poverty" livers look like fucking Bill Gates compared to some of these people. This isn't about "knights and serfs". We live in a democracy, not a monarchy.
If you want to save everyone, and put everyone on equal footing go ahead. Welcome to Stalin ..... That worked well didn't it!

Putting everyone on equal footing is what America has been about since the beginning.
This is the one place in the world where your destiny is dependent on what you do and not on who your father is.
What Edwards said EXACTLY was "No one who
WORKS FULL TIME should live in poverty", not that noone should live in poverty.
His remark was in reference to raising the minimum wage, which is sorely needed.
The buying power of the minimum wage has declined 25% over the last 20 years......in 1968 the minimum wage was worth $6.92 in 1998 dollars....today in 2004 the minimum wage is $5.15.
The other part of his argument was that any kid should be able to attend college regardless of how much money his parents have.
That's necessary for 2 reasons, one because its morally right and two, because educating our workforce is necessary in order for us to compete in the global economy of the future. Doing this helps EVERYONE, including the rich people.
