Well... I don't know the specifics of their system... but if your gateway has AVS verification enabled, it would indeed verify the information provided with the information the bank has on file. Unfortunately, AVS is not universally supported... although most banks in the US, Canada, and the UK do support it.

You'll also want to look for a gateway that supports the newer CVV2 verification. The CVV code is the extra 3 digits on the back of your card. As with AVS, this is not universally supported.

One more thing, most fraud scrubbing systems should be able to lookup the IP Address the end-user is connecting from and make sure it is from the same country as the card it is being presented with.
