LOL, I did answer your question, man. Boredom. I'm completely self taught and I learned after just sitting here and learning the software.

Sheer boredom.

I 've never read a book on editing. I woulnd't even know what book to read. You just have to sit and learn it. There is nothing more to it than that.

Watch a lot of movies I guess. I watch about 2 movies a day. (I've got "My Blue Heaven" on right now). Just watch movies and see how they're cut. Do you notice the editing? Does it draw attention to itself? Do things flow? Do they ever cross the 180 line?

All I use is Vegas and PhotoShop. I create my text in PhotoShop and animate and edit in Vegas.

I've been wanting to learn Avid, but I'm not sure if my end result will vary.

I don't have 3 video editing programs. Just one Vegas, I've never even tried anything else. I saw a guy at the place I used to work using Final Cut pro but it was 10X slower to work with and looked 10x harder to use.

I like vegas for the flow it allows me to have when the moment hits. I can sit here for an hour and not do too much then suddenly something clicks and I can edit lots of transitions and just flow. Vegas is real time so I can toss on transitions and edit while the video is playing and have ZERO rendering times. Even the Final cut pro guy was impressed.
