I heard the interview on ESPN with the catcher who caught the pitch:
He was ordered to help Bush practice (earlier in the day) so that that he could get the ball to him. They threw for a long time.
He said he had to be searched (thoroughly) before he practiced with the President.
He said the President worked hard to be able to make the pitch.
He said that Bush had been working at home for weeks (as well) in order to get make the throw.
He said they searched him again before the start of the game and the actual first pitch.
I wish he would have asked if Bush could put a little of that effort into his job as President.
