The one thing I really like about America is the individual responsibility which I think the Danish society does not encourage at all. In fact there are many obstacles when you want to start and run your own business. Also the social welfare system does not encourage people to take care of themselves as it works now.

i always wanted to go to Denmark. When i got there, i was a little shocked... i thought it would at least be on par with Sweden given the tax rates, but from what i have seen, it does not appear to be.
also, i think it just depends on how much people need that sense of safety and security that the social programs provide. people in the US basically tend to equate social programs to communism. thats why there is much less of it. but in some countries, i would be fine with the tax rates... if i felt i was getting what i paid for.
