linux is better because most apps are free for linux. As far as needing photoshop goes, as i understand it photoshop 7 is compatible with linux, but even before that there is a program that is virtually the same just a little harder interface to use. I like linux more, i guess maybe i just feel safer cause it is easier to do things ur not supposed to
