Fast internet [approx 35kb/s]
Rumor has it that 4G is being developed in Japan [shock horror] and does 10mbit... for a phone I think its a little much, but hook it up to your pc and you're flying.

I'm in Canada, and as far as I know, no carrier supports 3G. It's eitehr GPRS or 1x, which are both about as fast as 56K dialup.
For phone use, GPRS isn't all that bad. It's about 6-9kb/s which is pretty good considering images get recompressed on my phone. I think JPGs are compressed to 25% of the file size, and animated GIFs only show the first frame.
Another cool feature is all the data I store (pictures, calendar appointments, notes, emails, etc) automatically get synched with a web utility that I can access from anywhere.
