I never get that.
Take one sip more than you normally do and you get the same amount of garbage in your body than a normal glass of coke.
Same with chips, eat a handfull more than you normally would and its the same as normal non diet chips.
Plus people who eat and drink diet stuff always tend to eat/drink more because they think its not as bad. In the end its worse than normal food.

Actually, with soft drinks that's not true. A can of normal Dr Pepper, for instance, contains 40 grams of sugar, while a can of Diet Dr Pepper contains 0 grams of sugar.
To get the same amount of calories from Diet Dr Pepper as you get from a single can of normal Dr Pepper you'd have to drink literally hundreds of liters.
