My contract with my current carrier expires in a week, so I finally went out and bought the phone I've been dying to get for months.
It's called the Danger Hiptop (T-Mobile markets it as the Sidekick).
It's got a 16-bit colour screen that displays at 240x160 and a full QWERTY keyboard with a scroll wheel. It's tri-band with 32 MB of RAM, 4 MB of flash memory.
I've got a full featured email program that can handle 3 POP3 email accounts and supports JPG, GIF, PNG, DOC, PDF and MIDI, WAV and AIFF files less than 100 KB as attachments.
I can send myself MIDI/WAV/AIFF files and use them as custom ringtones.
It's got a great address book program and a full featured calendar/to-do program.
Most importantly, I can use it to access ICQ/AIM and do full-blown HTML web browsing. I was surfing and posting on GFY earlier. It's the same speed as a 56K dialup connection, but all files are passed through their server first and compressed/resized to load faster. I can turn off images very easily to make the surfing even faster.
It can also multitask. So I can be surfing a website and then flip down to AIM or to a new email, without losing the website.
I can also purchase apps or games for the phone through a catalog on the phone. Existing apps include a Telnet/SSH client, a sync program and Yahoo! Messanger. I can also hook it up to my PC through USB and program my own apps.
Anyone else have one of these? I'm in love with it! I obviously can't stop talking about it :D
