The one which pissed me off most, although I didn't lose much money over it, was Adult Check last November. I still see red thinking about it, because some webmasters did a deal to screw other webmasters and make some extra bucks for themselves in the process. That was a first the industry definitely didn't need and it was also the first time someone screwed over hundreds, maybe thousands of webmasters without even going out of business.

Apart from my disgust at the webmasters who turned over others with whom they sometimes had business or even personal relationships, it showed this industry in its worst light. Two big links list owners were among those who collaborated with Adult Check, but because of the cult of personality thing we have going in online porn, people were queuing up to kiss their asses.

I lost a lot of money last year courtesy of the card processors who went belly up. Before that I had been pretty lucky: a live video provider back in '99 (?) and Xwhatever-their-name was. The immediate losses probably totaled around $35,000, but it's hard to say what the real loss was since recurring income was lost too.
