Some Canadians hate the U.S. Some don't think about it much. The ones who think, are aware that U.S. policies strongly affect the Canadian economy, as well as that of many other nations. The U.S. is, in fact, one of the most powerful nations in the world... probably the most powerful single nation, and has a population almost 10 times that of Canada.
CNN, many books and most movies in Canada come from the United States. Of course Canadians are going to think about the U.S. But does Canada need it? Not really. Technologically and agriculturally, the U.S. has nothing on Canada except dollars.
