Why not? You'd want a test subject to be able to live as normally as they would be if not in the lab. If the subject is under undue stress from the lab that have nothing to do with the experiement then depending on what kind of experiment it is the test results cannot be expected to be accurate.

just exactly what kind of tests do you think they are doing on cats that they care about whether or not the cat is stressed?
