As far as worms and updates. duh you have to keep an eye on your box. it is not like a car that you run untill it dies you have to do oil changes. people always complain about Windows because of updates and crap.
Check out MAC stil 1 or 2% of the world use it and even less programs are made for it.

Maybe you haven't heard of Spyware, Browser hiJacks and auto install trojans. The shit that gets installed just by visiting a page or loading a counter which is insane. That's why I made the switch and that's why many others have as well. As far as 98%-99% using IE, that number is pretty skewed. I'd say it's somewhere in the 80's or even slightly lower.
People who NEED a clean computer generally tend to lean towards a safer browser like Firefox Opera, etc.
