that's not true. plasma tv's are just EDTV (echanced) they're not true HDTV's. picture quality is not a good as HDTV, go to a store and compare, you'll see the difference. plus plasma doesn't last long, if you're not going to wall mount it, it's just a waste of money.
make sure you actually go and see the tv before buying. a lot of screens like the sony brands have a glossy plastic screen cover that reflects a lot of light for the room. which can make view on angles bad.
i recently purchased this tv from Best Buy 44" LCD HDTV screen. packed with features.
