have you seen IMAP web interface close to gmail? i'd pay for it, but i have no time to write my own.
also gmail got awesome spell checker, and email suggestion form your address book when you start typing it in the 'to' field.

the only 2 drawbacks i can think of now about gmail
- is sending email in different language makes it unreadable, i can't figure out why, altough i have no such problems with yahoo or my other imap accounts.
- will be much convinient when google integrates gmail with google toolbar. i don't think its happening anytime soon as long gmail in beta, or when they upgrade their toolbar and have new version of it in beta too.
