This whole thing turned out to be a lot of trouble fot the Philipino government and that hostage situation only angered people more and they where protesting like crazy. I don't think the Philipine government had much choice.
The spineless Philipino government bent over to pressure from the US despite the population wishes. I can only blame Bush for creating a fictional coalition.
