Time marching on doesnt make anything a good or bad idea. Time marching on means that societies change. What worked 100 years ago, MAY not work 100 or 10 or 1 year from now.
An amendment to the constitution of the united states is not needed. In fact, it is contrary to the constitution itself.
It's not a difficult issue. It's a political issue to get votes from hard line right wing bible thumpers. very easy to see.
