The best compact digital cameras are the Canon Digital Elphs. I've owned a few of them over the years and I just upgraded to the Canon SD110.
It's the first Elph to use the smaller SD (Secure Digital) memory cards and a smaller battery. It's 3.2MP and takes great pics for it's tiny size.
