They are manipulating the algo and filters, there's nothing really wrong with it. I'm not going to say it's the greatest practice in the world, and I'm sure if I were searching for something in particular and that popped up in the SERPs that I'd probably share in your frustration, but really, there's nothing illegal about it. You need to respect them in the sense that if they have found a loophole on how to secure themselves a shitload of free search engine traffic (from Google I'm guessing) then more power for them. Gaining top rankings for adult keywords is considered the Holy Grail of rankings.
The real question is if you were able to do it, would you, or would you consider it unethical and turn away from it?
The one thing I am against are those spyware programs who consider themselves "adware" but change your browser's information on what you see. Where if you went to Google, performed a search and the top 6 spots were altered by the spyware's program so their advertisers would appear to hold top rankings. That shit scares me, because spyware is becoming a serious problem.
