You should be more polite, you have a recycled 800 # how is the caller supposed to know?
We got a phone number that was associated with a closed down rape center. The calls were sad. Even though, we tried to say you have the wrong phone and call this number, the callers were too hysterical and shared their story. After a week, we changed our number.
When changing the number, I explained why and I was a little upset since I already had letterhead and business cards printed, but I thought the number should be deleted or go to a rape crisis center. A few weeks later, my local phone service sent a letter thanking me and to contact another rape center since they could not give out my information.
I called and the director said thank you for the phone #, apparently the phone rep called up a few rape centers in our area asking if they wanted the number. The director said they didn?t have much of a budget but could pay some money for the losses I occurred. I asked if they were nonprofit, and if so, I just send me receipt for services rendered for taxes, which they did.
Funny I didn?t do anything but got a known number and the phone rep took the initiative. Now, if someone could tell the lumber company that their area code is wrong and please prints up some new invoices and tell the local yellow pages that there is a misprint to a major bank and I don?t speak Spanish, I would be a happy camper.
