A new assault on the alleged acacia patents was launched today by a dedicated public interest group, and many attorneys working for free.
Public interest groups can tie a company up in knots, for years, costing the company millions to defend themselves.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation says it will formally petition the US Patent office to re-examine Acacia Technologies' digital media transmission patent.
"These patent owners have been threatening people that just can't defend themselves," said Jason Schultz, staff attorney at the EFF.
"They're trying to claim ownership over some fundamental part of software of the Internet that people use every day, and they're threatening small companies or individuals that can't afford lawyers."

It seems we did a good job and put Acacia at the top of this list, well done all who voted.
Someone go spread the news around, I'm off to bed.
