An "open relationship" has to be built on strong mutual trust. If he's thinking of taking ths woman for a testdrive and his wife doesn't know about it, it could threaten that trust. If I were you, I'd advise him to discuss it with his wife as she should have some say in the decision if this is truly an "open relationship".
