The good news is I doubt VERY much that you have a scabies (or mite) infestation.
If you have not had scabies before it would take approx. 2 to 6 weeks before you would start to experience any symptoms.
When scabies are present they create pimple-like irritations and burrows, which itch predominantly at night, infecting areas other than those you have described.
The rate of 'infestation', symptoms you have described and the areas that you are experiencing 'hives' makes this seem extremely unlikely.
Consider throughly what other changes have taken place in your routine.
Have you started using any new hair or skin products, been gardening etc?
Did the "exposure" take place at her place or yours?
The reason I ask is that there are so many other variables/contaminants to consider in an "uncontrol environment" (eg pets, products, hygiene etc).
Prior to attending your Dr's appt I recommend a mild oral anti-histamine and a liberal application of a topical anti-histamine cream to the inflammed areas IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ITCHING.
(ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS)
Keep the inflammed areas clean, dry and exposed.
A cold compress with aloe vera gel/juice may also assist cut down the inflammation.
Good luck!
