Another thing is that they have had several characters suddenly go completely way out of character which several times left me going, "Huh? They would never say/do that!" The way they led up to the death of a character was so bizarre it was almost like watching the same actors play different parts.

Anyone who has refused to watch the show because it's "gay" has missed out on one of the funniest shows in years. This series is perfectly cast, Peter Paige and Sharon Gless alone are worth watching for.
I agree with you that only 14 episodes makes it a VERY short season. Not sure why they did that unless it's a cost cutting effort.

But I have to disagree with you about the change in direction the series has taken and the change in the actors.

I think after 3 years, the "novelty" of naked men and man on man sex lost a bit of it's appeal (though eye candy is always appreciated). But I LOVE this season in that they've made "life" on the series a bit more realistic and finally have made some of the characters truly have to be more than one dimensional.

I think Brian's character in particular has really put in some great scenes that has blown me away! (and the death of one of the main characters made me angrier than hell..but I got over it. grin)
