get mugged, robbed, own your own business, or have kids and you will side more with Republicans... if you have liberal thoughts most likely you're being selfish and siding with the party for 1-2 reasons that effect you. (lower taxes, income re-distribution, legal drugs, whatever floats your boat)
try not to associate one thing (religion, sex, etc) with each party and see how you feel about politics.. most people with commons sense would vote toward Republicans.
