Of course it was about oil: US foreign policy in the middle east has been about oil and nothing but oil for the past 70-odd years.
And if you didn't live on assumptions and dumbed down sound bites, you would recognize that the current increase in oil prices has a lot to do with (mainly) US refining companies and little if anything to do with crude supplies.
