3 years for an ounce. There are some states with fucked up drug laws, but 3 years for what would be classified as "personal consumption" and not "intent to distribute".
I know someone who was recently busted in his house with 100+ plants and a shotgun. He got 6 months because he's a parolee and isn't allowed to have a firearm. Pot charges were completely dropped. The bust didn't even make the news or newspapers.
I'm in New York too. We've got some fucked up drug laws.
