I have a virus, (don't ask me how I got it) I think it was from a forced download from an email. It eats up all my resources and makes my computer come a crawl and eventually stop.
I can't even run Norton AntiVirus, because half way into it (which takes hours because it is so slow) I get a low memory warning which in turn tells me to stop norton. It displays one of those "low memory, click here to terminate program" messages. It doesn't give me the option to continue.
Also I can see what is happening. A series of exe files are opening, consuming 100% of my CPU usage, and then opening another just like it before it closes. The files are named:
mepBE.tmp.exe
That will consume for almost a minute, then it will open:
mepBF.tmp.exe and so on, and so on...
Now the memory is being consumed by everything at the same time, but in intervals...
My ICQ will peak at 100%, then iexplore.exe will peak at 100%... it keeps jumping from program to program but it keeps it up at 100%
I can't run norton because it appears to be corrupt. (it never completes) I reinstalled it, and the same warning showed up.
I tried to defrag last night but got an error message saying that I needed to reinstall some windows files, and that I should put in the Win 2K pro disk. And when I did it told me it was the wrong disk.
If anyone can help please ICQ me ASAP!!
I can't be checking the internet... I need to shut it down.
ICQ# 114683191
put GFY AntiVirus in the authorize window.
Thanks,
