Actually, if I remember my history classes right, white people bought a lot of slaves from slave dealers selling their own people in Africa. Slavery has existed for coutless years, Americans didn't invent it - we ended it.
note: I'm not saying we haven't done some fucked up shit, a lot of slaves were bought in Africa... and a lot were kidnapped. Still, the fact remains Africans were selling their own people.
