I'm running the free comus on a test site right now because I'm thinking of buying it. The free comus skims 2% of your traffic.. add a free trade script that skims 1% and you're losing 3% of your traffic.
To me, I'm at the stage where that's not acceptable to me. I would rather buy a paid script and keep total control over where my traffic goes .. but if you're on a budget, just starting out and you understand that you'll lose 3% then go for it.
I definitely would recommend that you try out the free Comus before buying it. It has a lot of issues, the admin interface is god aweful and they've only got one guy handling everything so it's very expensive if you need someone to log into your system and have a look. They do have an excellent support forum, though.. and a lot of big sites run it so the things that are issues to me might be irrelevant to you.
Auto Gallery SQL has a way better admin interface .. but it has it's own pitfalls. AG isn't an option for my sites because the template system is too limited to accomplish what I need ... plus, gallery rotation based on most clicks is essential for my site .. comus will do that .. I don't think AGS will.
As to your question on blind links .. it depends on what kind of TGP you plan on running. If you're going to be a thumb TGP then blind links are almost essential to build up your trades.. but the more bookmarkers you get the less you can skim and your produtivity will go up and your trades will balance out. A new site will have to skim 40-50% to trades unless you can afford to buy a lot of traffic to get it started.
A text link TGP is way different though. And it's up to you. You could go the no blind link route and concentrate on hard links and search engine traffic.
