Oh yeah, I forgot to add...
On a lot of the Fords from '97-'02 or '03 there was a small button type rod in the frame by the front driver's side door that could activate the rear door locks and rod system. Basically it was like a child lock. So, not only were there handles in the back doors, but they could be unlocked and opened if that rod was in the "open" position. If you ever get the chance to look at the inside of the driver's door panel, on the pillar that seperates the back from the front, look for a silver or chrome 1 inch long rod end sticking out and you can pull or push it.
