I use my car to drive to photo shoots on road trips, and also to run to the post office to send things out. So I do expense those miles and the corresponding expenses and depreciation. My accountant told me to.

Your use is validated, and indeed in your case not a liability. However, where things begin to get shaky is - How much you've spent on your car. A $3500 car in most cases, can perform and complete the same tasks listed, as a $35,000 car can. With repairs? Or unknown potential problems of buying used, you can equate the cost of an additional $3500 car. With both cars you're still saving 1/7th, then with a new "luxury" car.
But either way, it's clear - Your car is needed moreso, then most. Thus, I find us both to be right. And this topic to be very subjective. To each his own, perhaps.
