Singer Love surrenders to police
Courtney Love has made a number of court appearances in recent months
Singer Courtney Love surrendered to US police on Friday after allegedly assaulting a woman at the home of her former manager and ex-boyfriend.
Authorities said Ms Love, 39, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. She was later released on bail.
The charges relate to an incident on 25 April 2004, when Ms Love allegedly assaulted a woman with a bottle and a torch at the LA home of Jim Barber.
Ms Love, is scheduled to appear in court on 9 July.
Drug charges
The former Hole star is already facing trial for possession of prescription drugs.
Police allegedly found painkillers at her home, having arrested her following a disturbance in October 2003 outside the home of a former boyfriend.
This latest alleged assault is said to have taken place in the same house.
Ms Love is also due to stand trial for another assault, with allegations she hit a fan with a microphone during a concert in Manhattan in March.
Treatment programme
The singer faces two counts of assault and reckless endangerment and could spend up to a year in jail if convicted of the charges. The court date was set for 28 June.
The troubled widow of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain recently agreed to enter a drug treatment programme, after admitting in court to being under the influence of cocaine and opiates during her arrest in October.
If she completes the treatment she will escape a possible spell in jail.
Ms Love also recently lost custody of her daughter by Cobain, 11-year-old Frances Bean.
