i was wondering though if this is a temporary problem as i just interduced the HOF on the site, so it might still be trying to work that out ?? any thought anyone ?

You could set a daily approval limit to the number of a days thumbs or a little higher even.
Then rather than using a date in your template you just sort by display date, display stamp.
Its not perfect but it works
