Every fall when they start to fall, my grandmother spends 2 or 3 months picking them all up. She sits around and cracks and shells them while she's watching TV, and puts them in ziplock bags, a pound each.
We always laugh at her because she really doesn't need the money so it seems weird to spend that much time doing it, but she makes *thousands*. She sells them for $5-6 dollars a pound and people start calling at the end of summer to remind her to be sure and put back x amount for them. If you saw how people acted about them, you'd think she was selling gold nuggets.

Wouldn't it be easier to sell them unshelled in bigger bags? Or do they get a higher price shelled?
Oh, as for the ARS sigwhore thing, glad to see it go. I thought GFY seemed more mellow today.
