eBay Auction gone "Sopranos"

Man get ass kicked, tied up in hotel!

Georgia man says he was beaten, robbed in sale gone bad

The Associated Press - OMAHA, Neb.

An Omaha man was arrested after a Georgia man reported he was robbed of several thousand dollars and held captive in a hotel room while trying to complete an online transaction.

The alleged victim said he bought more than $33,000 in medical supplies through eBay, the online auction site, police said.

The man told the Omaha World-Herald that he arrived in town Thursday and was picked up at the airport by the seller.

They drove to an Omaha warehouse, where the seller showed him the products, the Georgia man said.

The Georgia man said he promised to pay $9,000 in cash once he received proof that the items had been shipped. He said he would pay the remaining $24,500 with a cashier's check when his wife confirmed the items' arrival in Atlanta the next morning.

During a meeting later Thursday in the Georgia man's room at an Omaha hotel, the seller showed proof that he shipped the equipment. The Georgia man said he handed over the $9,000.

Later, the seller returned with two men.

The Georgia man said the men beat him, held a knife to his throat and forced him to sign the cashier's check over to another man. He said the men tied him up with a telephone cord and kept him in the hotel room while the seller left to cash the check.

When the Georgia man's wife couldn't reach her husband on his cell phone for several hours, she became worried and alerted hotel security.

Two of the men, including the seller, fled as security officers arrived.

A short time later, a 21-year-old Omaha man returned to the room, and he was arrested on suspicion of robbery and false imprisonment.
