I don't know if this helps, but sometimes if it's too cold when I'm trying to sleep, my body will tense up against the cold and my stomach will knot up severely. it's very painful and I have to jump in a hot shower, I mean, almost no cold mixed in at all, to warm up and thaw out before I can go back to sleep. These stomach aches are so painful that I can't think and can barely move, they are sharp and sometimes I even feel like I should throw up, but can't move my stomach muscles to do so. I think someone told me is was my diaphram charlie horsing. Maybe what you are experiencing is similar.
