However, re: "I see a bunch of posts daily from ARS sig people and they appear to be trying to contribute...there is rarely a 2 word or a smiley face." I have to suggest you really aren't paying much attention.
The numbers of ARS sig holders that feel the need to respond to every fucking post, whether they had anything intelligent to say was so annoying that I initially started to put them on ignore, but that got to be a pain, so I just turned sigs off.
The straw that broke the camel's back was when the guy started creating multiple threads about the same topic (burning his thumb smoking a joint or something), but rewording the topic title just to get more views (his own words).
