You're wrong... it depends on country you live in. In my country (as well as in many other countries) you can buy brand new BMW 740d, and even 730i or 730Li.
But in USA you won't find less than 745i - both BMW and Mercedes-Benz sell only most expensive and powerful cars in that country... probably because all BMW-lovers there are millionairs
