In my old neighborhood we didn't have cable or dsl, so i picked up an "aol plus direcpc" (only went with aol because they had a 100$ rebate and free installation!).. the thing sucked hairy ass.
Half the time there would be "low satellite signal" and would switch back and forth between the phone line and the satellite, which was a pain in the ass because the warning would be popping up every 10 minutes. Sometimes it would be blazing fast, and then other times it would be slower than dial up
