Lightning you can make a game out of it -- have your kids dress up as the Anthrax cleanup crew -- those would be cool costumes... You can have them wear rubber gloves... Then when you get home you just throw out the candy. Who cares about the candy -- it's the Trick-o-Treat part that's the most fun -- running around through the neighborhood in the middle of the night...
I was pretty fortunate to live in a neighborhood w/ so many kids -- we had a blast.
If you want to be extra careful -- maybe put together a neighborhood meeting about this (don't tell the kids) -- get to know the families that will be giving your kids candy -- have these families put a special sticker on their door (or something fun) so you know which homes are Anthrax-free.
