Sex shop was not a grocery store
St. Paul, MN, Jun. 4 (UPI) -- St. Paul inspectors issued citations to a Minnesota sex shop for having too much sexually explicit material and selling edible items without a food license.
Troy DeCorsey, owner of the Love Doctor, calls the tickets arbitrary harassment and plans to sue the city.
The month-old sex shop has angered local community activists who have worked for years to rid University Avenue of porn shows, saunas and massage parlors, the St. Paul Pioneer Press said.
A city inspector cited the store for having more than 300-square-feet devoted to its adult section and decided the sex shop needed a grocery license to sell "Gummy Boobs" and other racy candies.
DeCorsey said he paid a fee for a grocery license and was told the permit was in the mail.
The St. Paul City Council passed a citywide moratorium on adult-oriented businesses last month.
