How is someone in his hometown supposed to know him? When you move into an area, how do you apply to be "known"? Do you just goto bars everywhere and introduce yourself?

I don't get it. If you're going to sue for slander, don't you need some sort of proof that he said something to somebody? Otherwise, couldn't I just sue, say.... uhh....
