the do not call list is basically for phone bank systems..phone spam..someone who hires tons of phone sales people to search out info is not quite telemarketing. I am a salesperson and I will try to reach a qualified company any way I can. If someone tells me to fuck off.. They are off my radar.
If you do not want someone to call you do not alow access to your phone # like many who already have used alt. listings in whois. I personally will give anyone who calls me for business the cortesy of a few minutes atleast to explain themselves.
I use to also be a purchasing agent for a metals production company and some of my best purchases came from incoming calls out of left feild!
