WMV IS MPEG. A file named .mpg could very well be encoded with WMV encoding (which is MPEG4)

And since MS removed the restrictions that used to be on the ASF Codec (the former MPEG4 codec that DivX is derived from) there is little or no reason to not use it, other than ignorant MS bashing.
