I always find it funny when people you don't even talk to, don't even go see their threads to post in them, in fact, that you don't even know, that they feel the needs to come in your thread to post about them ignoring you. I have seen a couple post like that in past few days to different people. I find it amazing.

I thought that the idea of ignoring people was to refuse to pay attention to or disregard them.

Telling them you are ignoring them is kinda contradictory. Since your giving them attention?
