Cell phone/mobile porn as an upsell?

Hey everybody, this is my first post to GFY! I don't run any adult sites at the moment but I'm amazed at how tight knit the group seems to be. Too bad the rest of the biz world doesn't work this way!

Anyway, my post is a combination a) call for beta sites, and b) open discussion on mobile content. I'd really appreciate your feedback.

At wirerunner.com (site not launched yet), we have designed a software solution that helps people deliver content (images, and soon video) to mobile phones and PDA's via SMS. The goal is to let adult sites easily distribute their pics to their members, without having to manually deal with all the complexities of mobile.

Currently, WireRunner doesn't do any billing to your customers, as we assume you are already integrated with CCBill or another provider. Our goal is to give your existing members some added value, and help you differentiate your site and sell more subscriptions. (how many sites offer mobile versions today?)

When we send a link to the users phone, it has an expiring subscription to it. The subscriptions expire at a time you select (30 days, 1 week, whatever), and are "locked" to that users device to prevent super-distribution.

I envision this as a better alternative to creating a purely mobile version of your site, and trying to get in front of users on phones.. Too hard to type in URL's by hand, and the phone companies are going to be shy about putting porn on their homedeck.

A couple of details we are working through, that I hope the board can help me get answers to.

1: What would be your preferred method of adding this feature to your site? A link-away to another webpage that would return the user back afterwards? A PHP library? Perl? SOAP?

2. How many images do you normally have on a given site? 1000? 10,000?

3. What is your average number of paying customers in a month? (sorry if this is'nt talked about). 10? 1000? Averages or rough statements would be fine.

4. What operating system do you do your content management on? Windows? Mac? Linux?

Thanks for your help! And let me know if you have a site that might make a good beta customer!

Either respond to this post, or ICQ me if you want to talk more about anything.

Thanks.

Todd
