I'm on food stamps, but I keep all of my income recorded and I don't make enough to endanger my status. I'm legally disabled (with lupus) and my medical and living expenses are enough to make my income (less than a thousand a month, including my site income and my social security) insignificant. When it's time to prove my income, I take *all* of my paperwork and documents in, because there may come a time when I'm not well enough to do internet work and I don't want to risk messing up my status. On the other hand, if I ever end up making enough online to pay my medical and living expenses, then I will be the first person down at the office requesting that I be taken off any assistance programs.
Once somebody turned me in as 'fraudulent' because I drive a 1996 Taurus (not an Audi, not a Benz... a Taurus). I had to go through a ton of paperwork and inspections just because some asshole thought my car was too nice for a disabled person, and the only reason I have it is because my parents bought it for me (used) a number of years ago so I would have reliable transportation to visit them and get to the doctor at all hours.
