That happened to me about two weeks ago with the fan above the bed.
Luckily, I was out and came back to see a mangled fan and plaster all over the bed. You were lucky it didn't knock you out or cut you with the blades.
It had been wobbly/squeeky for quite a while and I never bothered to fix it.
I don't want to put it back up because like was said earlier it will always be in my head now that it is gonna fall again
