So if your members leaves to another site, you got at least something from him. If not, he has at least something where he can jerk off everyday. But I have never try it, it just idea 
Look at bangbus.com, they even provide inside their paysite access to
bangthumbs.com - but i think this is wrong, cause its regular tgp, only with top spots leading to their own sites

Think you should be carefull with that, I agree. When you have a site that has alot of members generated by Searchengine traffic for example it would be a waste to introduze them to the "TGP" world.
Upsells can be done with products that relate to yours, Or are related to your niche. Or give a tour in your membersarea, with description of the site where you are sending them too. Don't send them away, before they know where therre going too.
We do upsales to other live-content providers and sell through our shops. They can purshase products they can find back in the membersarea.
